В январе 2008 года языковая школа МАСТЕРКЛАСС объявила конкурс эссе на тему «This Is How I Would Teach English». Мы получили более 60 работ от школьников Нижнего Новгорода, Нижегородской области и даже Санкт-Петербурга и Красноярского края. Победителя определил представитель Select English (сети языковых центров в Кембридже и Лондоне) - Robert Hesketh.

В мае Роберт приехал в Нижний Новгород, чтобы торжественно наградить победительницу МАСТЕРКЛАССного конкурса, ученицу школы № 44 Солод Валерию. Лера выиграла бесплатное 2-хнедельное обучение в языковой школе Select English Cambridge.

В конце августа Лера вернулась из Великобритании - это были ее первые каникулы за рубежом, первые уроки английского в английской школе, первый опыт общения со сверстниками из Англии, Франции, Японии и, конечно же, первые прогулки по Лондону и Кембриджу (Select English славится обширной экскурсионной программой, которая является отличным дополнением к обучению).

Валерия Солод: из восьмого класса - в Кембридж! "It was my best holidays..."

I was living in England during two weeks. I lived with Olsons family. There lived 4 pupils from Japan, China and France. The house was very big. I had my own room and lived there alone.

I lived in Cambridge – it was a very old and beautiful town. Every day I went to school. I lived far from school, it took 15 min to  get there. I went to school by bus.

We had 4 lessons a day. They began at 9.30 and finished at 15.00, we had dinner at school. Two teachers – Lorna and Emily tought us. There were 12 students in our group – 7 boys and 5 girls from different countries.

Every day we were taken to a tour of Cambridge. We went sightseeing very often and I have a lot of photos. Once we had a Kings College tour. We visited Kings College – there were a few old buildings there. Students study there.

Next time we went to the centre of Cambridge. We visited Fitzwilliam Museum – it has a little of everything. Great St. Mary’s Church – you can climb the steps inside the tower for good views of the city.

Next time we went to the Museum of Zoology. It includes everithing from ants to elephants. In the centre of one hall there is a very big deer. It is named “Irish Elk”.

LONDON. Big Ben – the great bell which strikes the hour. It is in the clock Tower of the Houses of Parliament. Westminster Abbey – one of the oldest historic buildings in London. Houses of Parliament – the placte where members of Parliament work and make laws. Trafalgar Square & Nelson’s Column with the figure of the great seaman. Piccadilly Circus. A sqare in the central part of London. In this sqare there are a lot of cafes . We visited one of them and ate an ice-cream. As for me, it is testier than in our country.

I visited Buckingham Palace. In front of it there are a lot of red and blue flowers – it’s a wonderful view.

I saw the London Eye on the coast of the river Thames. This river is the main river in England.

I liked England very much. I’d like to visit  it again.

It was my best holidays!
